Does Diet Affect Acne and Spots?

Food plays an important role in anyone’s life. It not only gives you nutrition but also help you get rid of many other problems. Let’s dig deep into it. One such problem related to skin is acne and its prevention. Acne is causes bumps on any part of your body especially at face, shoulders and back. Acne can fade away with time and without treatment, but it can leave its scars and spots fighting with which is somewhat depressing.

Acne is caused by hormonal changes being common in teenagers. But it occurs when the dead skin cells clog the skin pores. There are different types of acne as blackhead, whitehead and pimples. Diets can affect the acne and its appearance. As blood sugar is raised by different foods, and leads to producing oils by one way or another so. It can affect the acne and its appearance. Some foods that spark the production of insulin are white rice, pasta, sugar, chocolate and white bread etc. These foods carbohydrates as they produce more insulin.

Researcher has identified that dairy products and fats can also cause acne. They stimulate the hormones’ production which results in excessive oil production, contributing to acne problems. Such foods, if it can cause or aggravate the acne, there are other foods as well which help in preventing the acne. Such as legumes, whole grains, and unprocessed vegetables and fruits. Those fruits and vegetables are considered best which contain vitamin A and E, antioxidants and zinc.

Skin-friendly food

Some skin friendly food includes leafy and dark green vegetables, orange or yellow fruits, beans, brown rice, nuts, fish, Whole-wheat bread etc. Everyone’s skin is different. Some are of the view that when they eat above-mentioned food, they get more acne. So, it is necessary to consult your dermatologist before adding certain foods in your diet.

Low-glycemic foods

Recent studies have shown that foods containing low level of glycemic can prevent acne. According to the study of Korean patient, it was found that taking low-glycemic food for over 10 weeks helped in reducing and preventing acne.

Zinc intake

Zinc is a dietary mineral essential for skin development. Foods with high level of zinc can help in preventing acne and its spots. Zinc enriched foods include quinoa, lentils, Pumpkin seeds, Turkey and seafood etc. Low level of zinc intake can cause severe acne problems.

vitamin A and E foods

Severe acne can be caused by low level of vitamin such as vitamin-A and vitamin-B. Acne can be reduced by in taking the following vitamins. Use vitamins according to your physicians’ guidance.

Usage of Antioxidants and Omega-3 fatty acids

These are fats that can be found in particular plants and animals protein acids. Omega-3 fatty acids can be in eggs and fish etc. Antioxidants and Omega-3 are both known for their inflammation reduction properties. Several studies like Lipids in Health and Disease found that more intake of antioxidants and Omega-3 reduced the vulnerability of acne and its scars.
